Weekly Update 5/14/20

Good afternoon OLV Families!

The last few weeks of our school year are rushing by, and we have so much left to accomplish - even via remote learning and working. I am including all information in this email rather than attaching a series of documents, since the information we need to convey is fairly concise this week for the general school family. A more detailed email and attachment regarding graduation plans and a parent survey for input will come out later this evening now that we have received some guidance from the Archdiocese after Governor Hogan's press conference last night.

There are three pieces of information for everyone this week:

1) SCHOOL SCHEDULE REMINDERS: we are committed to following the published school schedule for this year, so the following important dates should be kept in mind:
May 22nd - 12:30 dismissal: all Zoom meetings will be held before that time and will end by 12:30
May 27th - Final day of meetings and assignment collection for 8th Grade - please make sure everything is completed!
June 1st - Graduation Ceremony at OLV (in person) - details to be finalized by 5/20 with staff and parent input

2) PRIMARY GRADE WORK COLLECTION:  Starting Monday, May 18th there will be grade-separated bins at the front door of the school where parents can drop off packets of completed work for grades PK, KG, 1st, and 2nd. Please make sure that work is bundled together (folder, rubber band, clips) and has your students' name on it so that teachers can identify and correct the submitted work. Teachers will be collecting and assessing work in preparation for the final progress reports for this year. Please maintain social distancing while dropping off work, including masks and separation. Bins will be cleaned each afternoon when work is removed.

3) COFFEE WITH PRINCIPAL GORMAN - ROUND 4! Next Thursday, May 21st, there will be another Zoom Meeting with interested parents and me at 7:00 PM. Please email Ms. Green at kgreen@olvmd.org to reserve your spot and receive the meeting link. I hope to see many of you there as plans for the end of this year and the opening of schools next year continue to be developed.

Finally, please accept my sincere thanks for the support and encouragement you have given me over the past few weeks, as well as your steadfast support of Our Lady of Victory during these challenging times for us all. God Bless each of you and please stay safe!

Mrs. Gorman, Principal - Our Lady of Victory School
